Netherlands-based NieuwRechts shares the story of all the passengers arriving on El Al from Tel Aviv being systematically searched for any Israeli-produced goods from Judea, Samaria, or the Golan Heights.
Carrying any of these items now carries a potential jail sentence of up to 6 years. Unintentional violations carry a penalty of up to 1 year in jail.
That bottle of wine, box of chocolates, or other souvenir may turn into a very costly purchase. Those found with removed or altered labels of origin will face additional penalties. The ban includes products where even one ingredient or component comes from Judea, Samaria, or the Golan Heights.
It’s a good reminder to also avoid flying on Netherlands-based KLM when connecting to/from Israel, lest you get caught up in rules reminiscent of 1940s Europe, when 75% of the Netherlands’ Jews were exterminated, the highest Jewish death rate in Western Europe.
