Amazon Business AMEX cardholders were informed today that their card will be converted into US Bank Amazon Business Mastercards effective 8/14.

A new card with a new number will be issued, with the same credit line. It won’t eat up a Chase 5/24 slot, as business cards don’t appear on your personal credit report if they’re paid on time.

Your account balances and rewards will transfer as well.

You will have to register with US Bank to manage the card online and to setup Autopay.

The card will automatically convert numbers in your Amazon wallet on 8/14, so that no action will be required. You will have to update your card number with any other merchant.

The card will continue to earn 3% back if you don’t have Prime and 5% back if you have Prime. The limit will increase from a $120K annual spending cap to $150K with the switch.

If you don’t want your card converted to US Bank, you can cancel the card before 8/14.

You should download your account history before 8/14, as that won’t be accessible once the account is transferred to US Bank.

AMEX Offers on the card must be redeemed by 8/13.

You can continue to file claims for Purchase Protection, Return Protection, Extended Warranty, and Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance for purchases made before 8/14 with AMEX, even after the account is transferred to US Bank.

AMEX’s awesome Return Protection will be one of the major losses of this transfer, which is a shame, as this is one of the only AMEX cards with Return Protection without an annual fee.

AMEX shared the following statement with DansDeals,

“From time to time, co-brand agreements are not renewed, and while our existing co-brand relationship with Amazon is changing, Amazon remains an important partner, and we continue to work together to provide valuable offerings to our customers.”
