JetBlue has been downgrading Mosaic benefits for several years.
For 2025, they removed most Mosaic benefits from Basic fares and free Blade helicopter transfers from Mosaic 4.
For 2026, they reduced free alcoholic beverages, Mosaic 1 free bags, and Mosaic 2-4 extra legroom companions.
For 2027, there are several more downgrades and program complexity, but the introduction of BlueFirst will allow JetBlue to balance them with, well, actual upgrades.
Mosaic members will be eligible for free space-available upgrades to BlueFirst, with up to 1 companion. Mosaics who pay with a JetBlue card will have upgrade priority, followed by those who paid for extra legroom seating and then their current Tile balance.
Premier primary cardholders and authorized users who pay for the ticket on their card will also be upgrade eligible, if there’s still space after all Mosaic members and their companions have been upgraded. Upgrades aren’t available for partner airline elites.
Basic fares are ineligible for upgrades.
Upgrades will only start clearing an hour before departure, while the competition’s upgrade windows are up to 5 days before departure. Unlike with other airlines, upgrades won’t come with an additional checked bag allowance.
There are several downgrades, effective 2/1/27.
Currently, at 10, 20, 30, and 40 tiles, you can pick perks like 5,000 points, a free alcoholic beverage on all your flights, early boarding on all your flights, or priority security on all your flights.
Next year that will change to 1,000 points, 2 bonus tiles, early boarding on 1 flight, a free alcoholic beverage on 1 flight, or priority security on 1 flight. You can select the same perk more than once.
Ouch.
Currently, when you reach every 50 tiles, you can select 15K points, a 20 tile bonus, a 20 tile gift, a $99 statement credit on JetBlue cards, IHG Platinum status, FoundersCard Blue membership, a pet fee waiver, or Mint Suite priority.
Next year, at Mosaic 1/50 tiles, that will be downgraded to just 10K points, a 10 tile bonus for your current or following year, or a single-use BlueHouse Pass. If you have a Premier card, you can also choose from a 10 tile gift. The statement credit, pet fee waiver, IHG status, FoundersCard membership, and Mint Suite priority options will be removed.
Next year, at Mosaic 2/100 tiles, you can select 10K points or a 10 tile bonus for your current or following year, a single-use BlueHouse Pass, or 1 premium upgrade certificate. If you have a Premier card, you can also choose from a gift of Mosaic 1 status.
Next year, at Mosaic 3/150 tiles, you can select 20K points or a 20 tile bonus for your current or following year, a single-use BlueHouse Pass, or 1 premium upgrade certificate. If you have a Premier card, you can also choose from a gift of Mosaic 2 status or a companion travel benefit up to a $500 statement credit.
Next year, at Mosaic 4/250 tiles, you can select 30K points, a 30 tile bonus for the following year, a single-use BlueHouse Pass, 1 premium upgrade certificate, a gift of Mosaic 3 status, or a gift of one year of BlueHouse membership to another member. If you have a Premier card, you can also choose a companion travel benefit up to a $1,500 statement credit.
You will only have 60 days to select a perk after reaching each milestone before it expires.
You can select the same perk multiple times. Mosaic 2 members and above will also get a pet fee waiver starting next year as a signature perk. Mosaic 3 and 4 members with a Premier card will earn 5 points per dollar at restaurants and grocery stores, on up to $50K of combined purchases per calendar year.
Move to Mint certificates are now premium upgrade certificates, with a variable cost for confirmed upgrades to BlueFirst or Mint between 1 and 4 certificates. Mosaic 2 members can select 1 certificate as a perk from 100 tiles. After earning 150 tiles, Mosaic 3 members automatically earn 4 certificates. Mosaic 4 members automatically earn another 4 certificates after hitting 250 tiles.
Notably, JetBlue 25 for 25 Mosaic 1 members get hit with a downgrade for the 2nd year in a row. Last year they saw a reduction of free alcoholic beverages and bags, and this year they’ll see a reduction of the perk they can pick from 15K points or 20 tiles to just 10K points or 10 tiles.
