Miss features of older model
I loved my previous Contigo thermal mug (Contigo Luxe Autoseal Vacuum-Insulated, Spill-Proof Coffee Mug with Stainless Steel Thermalock Double-Wall) but it had gotten pretty banged up and dented. That style was no longer available so I purchased this one. I like that it can't get dented the way my old one did and that the lid is smoother to drink from. However, the lock on this newer model is harder to engage and I prefer the horizontal drink button of the previous model. I put the new mug in a shoulder holster that I used for my old Contigo but the vertical orientation of the release got depressed by the holster so the water spilled all over the back seat of my car. Now I know better. I still prefer the horizontal release on the top to the vertical. (Photo: new model on left; previous model on right.)

I really like the size and function of this spill proof mug. Item arrived in padded, cardboard packaging. Arrived in perfect condition. The contour of the mug fits nice in the hand and allows for easy use of the release button with one hand. Locking the release button is done with a button on top of the lid. The lock button is a little stiff to flip up and down but that ensures it is not accidentally unlocked. Overall this is the perfect mug for me. I do not mind it not keeping the contents hot for 7 hours. I purchased this to use for coffee only and I am very satisfied with all aspects of this mug. It does have a limited lifetime warranty for manufacturer defects but not normal wear and tear. You can register your mug at Contigo's website quick and easy.

This is to replace a 3 year old Contigo which leaked on and off all the time. This one they got it right for the 20oz version. I wouldn't say it keeps coffee hot for 5 hours but definitely at least 2-3 then it stays luke warm another 2-3 hours. It gets me through the day. It's a nice stainless steel container and the leakproof lids works great and flips open to clean. My wife has the 24oz and loves hers.

Mainly purchased due to the look of it, slick (mine had a slight scratch but I can live with it I guess), plus the 'tech' of the cap which locks after each use when you release the button, and it can be also fully locked with the little switch at the side. Insulation is good, and while you'll get a good number of hours with your hot beverage, I feel it could be juuuussst a tad better, 11 hours hot seems a bit optimistic but that can depend on how hot the liquid goes in from the beginning I suppose... Coffee makers for instance don't generally make piping hot coffee so that's also a factor for heat longevity. I like my bottle quite a bit, nicely done Contigo. Sip.

I have spent many hours researching travel mugs, so I could finally have a leak free hot latte every morning when I commute to work. This was the winner. With this leak free AUTO SEAL mechanism , a Mercedes of coffee mugs. It was expensive too, minimum £25 so I decided to wait an order one on AMAZON US half the price including the delivery . I even ordered extra one for my partner. While I was waiting I bought a budget HIWILL Double Walled Vacuum Insulated Travel Coffee Mug, for ten pounds. I chose the smaller size for my son and was using it while waiting for Contigo. Yes it was too small for a large latte but leak proof and hot for hours!!! When contigo 2.0 arrived it was impressive but heavy. The auto seal works well and it's easy to clean. It's bigger than Hiwill but that's what I wanted, Unfortunately coffee loose the temperature very quickly. Having been using the hiwill I could feel huge difference. No more hot coffee on my desk when I arrive to work. So disappointed....I am considering sending them back , but it will be to US ... UPDATE: After few hit and misses with latte temperature and rinsing the cup with boiling water to make it hot I have no issues with the right temperature for at least 3 hours ! The lid is easy to twist on and off. It is easy to clean with easy open lid mechanism and bottle brush. No leaks or drips have happened. Have only used for coffee so unsure how long it keeps drinks cold but it doesn't keep coffee hot very long. It definitely does not keep beverages hot for 7 hours.
It is important to open the seal away from face and allow to release pressure before drinking when using hot liquids. The instructions do mention doing this. The outside does not get hot to the touch.
