Citi ThankYou points and Capital One miles just keep getting more valuable.
Last year, Citi added the ability to transfer to American Airlines at a 1:1 ratio. Last month, Citi added the ability to transfer to JAL miles at a 1:1 ratio.
Capital One added transfers to JAL, Qatar, and Preferred Hotels and Resorts last year.
And now, Citi points can be transferred to Copa Airlines at a 1:1 ratio and Capital One miles can be transferred to Copa at a 1K:750 ratio. Through 12/1 at 11:59pm, Capital One miles transfer to Copa at a 1K:975 ratio.
You can get some great deals with Copa, such as 15K miles in coach or 30K miles for a business class flight to Panama:

That’s cheaper than it would cost with United, for example:

Copa used to be 49% owned by Continental Airlines, which also managed its loyalty program. That’s no longer the case today with United, but the airlines do have access to expanded award space for additional miles.
That creates some interesting cases. For example, on pricey dates, it can cost 45K miles in coach or 120K miles to fly lie-flat business class between Newark and Los Angeles or San Francisco:

However, those same coach seats can cost 35K miles, and lie-flat business class seats can cost just 55K Copa miles!
These flights can cost from $1,300 to $2,500 each way in business class, making for an incredible redemption value from 2.4-4.5 cents per miles!

You are also able to use Copa miles for other Star Alliance travel.
Copa allows for a free stopover and 2 open jaws on a round-trip award, which can make for some great values.
Other partner airlines include Azul, Gol, Emirates and KLM. Copa is one of the few carriers that doesn’t charge fuel surcharges for Emirates travel, however, you’ll need to call Copa to book travel on Emirates. Getting through to Copa and finding a competent rep is no easy feat.
Post what deals you find!
